‘Software Changing the Environment’ Theme
‘Miso’ Team Wins Grand Prize for Creating a Program Realizing an Eco-Friendly Future City in the Metaverse
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] KB Kookmin Bank announced on the 13th that it held the award ceremony for the 4th Software Competition in the metaverse space.
The 4th Software Competition, themed "Software that Changes the Environment," incorporated ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) into programming languages and has been ongoing since August last year. A total of 96 teams of high school and university (graduate) students nationwide submitted various software programs related to the environment, and 15 teams advanced to the finals through preliminary judging.
The entries of the 15 finalist teams were exhibited in a metaverse space replicating KB Kookmin Bank's Yeouido New Building, and the rankings were determined through online voting by visitors and final judging by a panel of experts.
In this competition, the "Miso" team, which created an educational program by implementing an eco-friendly future city in the metaverse, won the grand prize. The excellence award went to the "GMG" team, which developed an app for sharing the location information of trash bins. All teams that reached the finals received plaques and prize money.
Since its inception in 2018, the "KB Kookmin Bank Software Competition" has been held annually with new themes that combine programming languages and global trends to discover creative talents suited for the digital age. A KB Kookmin Bank official said, "We are grateful for the many outstanding talents who applied in line with the digital era," and added, "We will continue to provide opportunities for young people to fully express their talents and capabilities in software."
