[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jonghwa] New Paradigm Investment, an accelerator operating Tips, announced on the 13th that it plans to pursue new and follow-up investments totaling 7 billion KRW in 15 startups this year.
As of the end of last year, New Paradigm Investment, which manages total assets of 30 billion KRW, invested a total of 4.7 billion KRW in 17 startups last year, including 13 new investments and 4 follow-up investments, focusing on AI, big data, healthcare, food tech, O2O platforms, and the metaverse, leading the 4th Industrial Revolution era.
Currently, it holds an investment portfolio of 41 companies, with three companies?Blue M Tech, Vinsen, and Artifriends?having received Series B or higher investments. These companies are valued at 230 billion KRW based on follow-up investments. Additionally, seven companies initially invested in, including Spidercraft, Pinomax, Sound Republica, and Buycell Standard, have successfully secured Series A follow-up investments.
Baek Sangseung, CEO of New Paradigm Investment, said, "New Paradigm Investment has a total fund size of 20.8 billion KRW across five investment partnerships and manages assets totaling 30 billion KRW, including proprietary accounts. Last year, we raised 11.1 billion KRW for the 5th fund with contributions from the Korea Fund of Funds, and this year, we plan to raise 15 billion KRW for the 6th fund."
New Paradigm Investment plans to grow eight companies to baby unicorn status this year, select 15 new startups for Tips and Wings, and attract follow-up investments for more than 20 companies at Series A or higher.
Co-CEO Park Jehyeon stated, "To sustain the second venture boom, we will support promising startups through new and follow-up investments, mentoring, and various other means. We will generously support startups showing early performance indicators to solidify these metrics and enable them to make a quantum leap to baby unicorn status."
Meanwhile, New Paradigm Investment is a subsidiary of TS Investment, a venture capital firm listed on KOSDAQ. It is building a successful startup portfolio as a company builder and investing in commercialization for early-stage startups under three years old in the 4th Industrial Revolution sector.
