[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hye-young] Samsung Electronics announced on the 13th that its new TV models showcased at the world's largest home appliance and IT exhibition, 'CES 2022,' have been recognized for excellence in 'viewing safety' and 'color accuracy' by global certification organizations.

The 2022 Samsung Lifestyle TV received the 'Eye Care Certification' from VDE, a German testing and certification specialist, and the 'Anti-Glare Verification' from UL, a global safety certification company.

VDE's Eye Care Certification evaluation criteria include ▲eye safety ▲melatonin suppression level ▲harmlessness of screen flicker ▲uniformity of picture quality ▲color accuracy.

Samsung Lifestyle TV was recognized as having both the amount of blue light emitted from the device and the melatonin suppression level at harmless levels to the human body. The screen flicker, which causes eye fatigue and headaches, also met the standards. It was also acknowledged for excellence in color accuracy and picture quality uniformity, which evaluate how comfortable the eyes are when watching TV content. Samsung Electronics explained that the 2022 Lifestyle TV applies a 'matte display' that reduces light reflection, allowing users to experience the best picture quality without glare.

UL evaluated The Frame as the first TV to meet its own 'anti-glare verification' standards in all categories, including ▲'reflective glare,' which judges whether objects on the screen are clearly visible even when external light reflects on the TV surface under bright lighting of 300 lux and dim lighting of 70 lux ▲'discomfort glare,' which judges whether the TV screen brightness is not dazzling ▲'disability glare,' which judges whether the TV is not dazzling even when viewed in a completely dark room.

Additionally, all new 2022 QLED TV models received the world's first 'PANTONE Validated' certification. Pantone is a color-specialized brand that provides Pantone color standards used worldwide.

The products validated by Pantone this time include 15 QLED TV models, including 8K and 4K, and 5 monitors. Samsung QLED was evaluated not only for accurately expressing thousands of colors in the Pantone color standard but also for accurately representing skin tones based on Pantone's database criteria such as race and age.

Yong Seok-woo, Vice President of Samsung Electronics' Visual Display Business Division, said, "As the time spent using TVs at home has increased due to the pandemic, viewing safety along with picture quality has become an important criterion for product selection. We will continue to develop various technologies so that consumers can have the best viewing experience in a comfortable environment."
