[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Korean Air announced on the 13th that through a partnership with Emart, a leading domestic retailer, customers can now earn or use airline mileage when purchasing products at Emart stores.
Under the partnership, Korean Air members can earn 1 mile for every 3,000 KRW spent when paying 70,000 KRW or more at offline Emart stores nationwide starting from this day. To accumulate mileage, members must first register their Korean Air Skypass membership number in the Emart application.
When using mileage, customers can deduct 1,400 miles in advance on the Korean Air website or application to receive a voucher, which they can present to the cashier at checkout to get a 10,000 KRW discount on the final payment amount. The voucher can be used for purchases of 70,000 KRW or more and is limited to once per day.
Korean Air has enabled simultaneous mileage accumulation and usage to benefit customers. For example, even if a customer buys products worth 100,000 KRW and uses a 10,000 KRW discount voucher, mileage will be accumulated based on the full 100,000 KRW amount.
Meanwhile, to celebrate this partnership, Korean Air will hold a drawing until February 28 for 659 customers who have earned or used mileage at Emart, awarding prizes.
One grand prize winner will receive two round-trip Prestige class tickets from Incheon to Hawaii, three second prize winners will each receive two economy class tickets from Incheon to Hawaii, and five third prize winners will each receive two economy class tickets from Incheon to Guam. Additionally, 50 people will receive 10,000 miles, 100 people will receive 5,000 miles, and 500 people will receive 1,000 miles each.
Korean Air and Emart have expanded their partnership across various fields including sports since signing a joint marketing agreement with the Jumbos volleyball team and the SSG Landers professional baseball team in May last year. This partnership is significant as it enhances the convenience of mileage accumulation and usage through their collaboration.
Korean Air stated, "We plan to continuously expand related services and partner networks so that customers can accumulate and use mileage more easily and conveniently."
