Gyeongnam Office of Education Shares 'Happy Reading' ... "Libraries Are New Learning Spaces for Future Education" On the 12th, the Gyeongnam Office of Education held a work council meeting by gathering the directors of 27 directly managed public libraries and the Gayasan Dokseodang Jungle Book institution.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] On the 12th, the Gyeongnam Office of Education held a business council meeting with the heads of 27 public libraries under the education office and Gayasan Dokseodang Jungle Book.

The meeting was organized to operate public libraries together with residents, which is the policy direction of Gyeongnam education, and discussed major projects and current issues of public libraries in 2022.

They shared the Happy Reading policy, which provides reading opportunities to reading-vulnerable groups, a key project emphasized by the provincial education office this year.

They discussed ways to revitalize projects such as expanding continuous reading programs with more than five sessions, happy companionship with libraries, and one-person-one-book writing, which leaves participants' simple stories in writing.

Superintendent Park Jong-hoon said, “This is a time when the importance of guaranteeing the public nature and public interest of libraries is emphasized,” and added, “I hope libraries faithfully perform their role of connecting changing users and information media, consider their existence as new learning spaces for future education, and lead change.”
