Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction, 52.5 Billion KRW LH Gwacheon Knowledge Information Town Apartment New Construction Project

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction, a subsidiary of Korea Technology, a KOSDAQ-listed company, announced on the 12th that it has won a contract worth 52.5 billion KRW for the construction of apartments in Gwacheon Knowledge Information Town.

According to the bid notification, as a result of the bid amount evaluation for the project, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction was selected as the final successful bidder, ranking first in the comprehensive evaluation and surpassing competitors.

The ‘Gwacheon Knowledge Information Town S11BL Apartment Construction Project Section 1,’ jointly contracted by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction (80%) and Sungjin General Construction (20%), will be developed in the public housing district within Gwacheon Knowledge Information Town, located in Galhyeon-dong and Munwon-dong, Gwacheon-si, Gyeonggi-do.

The apartment complex, consisting of four types: 16, 26, 36, and 44, is planned to be constructed with a total floor area of 15,453 pyeong (approximately 51,070 square meters). It will comprise five buildings ranging from two basement floors to 25 above-ground floors, including 846 units of Happy Housing and neighborhood living facilities.

Gwacheon Knowledge Information Town is a newly developed public land district in Gwacheon-si, featuring residential, commercial, office, and educational facilities. Consequently, it is attracting attention as a ‘multi-station’ area with various locational advantages.

The most notable feature is transportation convenience. Subway Line 4’s Government Complex Gwacheon Station and Indeogwon Station are located within a 10-minute drive, and in 2025, the Gwacheon Knowledge Information Town Station on Subway Line 4, accessible by foot, is scheduled to open.

Additionally, the GTX-C line of the Seoul Metropolitan Area Express Railway is planned to open at Government Complex Gwacheon Station, which will take approximately 7 minutes and two stops to reach Samseong Station upon completion. The area also boasts excellent regional transportation networks with proximity to the Seoul Ring Expressway, the Second Gyeongin Expressway (Buk Uiwang IC), Gwacheon-Bongdam Urban Expressway, and Gwacheon-daero.

Another advantage is the nature-friendly environment. Adjacent to Cheonggyesan Mountain, Gwanaksan Mountain, and neighborhood parks, the area forms a ‘forest zone.’ Approximately 25% of the Gwacheon Knowledge Information Town site will be developed as parks and green spaces, creating an eco-friendly complex where residents can enjoy life in harmony with nature.

A representative from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction stated, “Following the recent contract win for the 150 billion KRW Pyeongtaek Godeok LH Apartment project, we have also succeeded as the final bidder for the Gwacheon Knowledge Information Town apartment construction. We are standing out amid competition with leading domestic companies in the public sector.”

They added, “We will do our best in construction to help the area become a new residential town in Gwacheon.”

Meanwhile, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction is accelerating its public sector projects. In December, it was selected as the final successful bidder for the approximately 150 billion KRW Pyeongtaek Godeok LH Apartment project, demonstrating its competitiveness in public sector contracts.
