Gochang-gun Surpasses 61.3% COVID-19 Vaccine Third Dose Vaccination Rate

According to the county on the 12th, the third dose vaccination rate for the elderly aged 60 and over is 90.6%, meaning 9 out of 10 seniors have received their booster shot.

This rate is significantly higher than the Jeonbuk provincial vaccination rate (49.4%) and the national vaccination rate (41.8%).

The nationwide third dose vaccination rate for the elderly is 81.6%.

The county health authorities are actively encouraging the third dose vaccination for adults aged 18 to 59, who are due for their shots this month.

If the active young and middle-aged population gets infected with the Omicron variant, confirmed cases could surge rapidly in a short period, placing a heavy burden on the healthcare system.

A health center official said, “Vaccination is the best prevention against COVID-19 infection, severe illness, and death, and its effectiveness has been clearly proven through domestic and international vaccination data,” adding, “We urge the residents to actively participate in COVID-19 vaccination to overcome the crisis of the COVID-19 outbreak.”
