'Postponement Reason: Ongoing COVID-19 and Omicron Variant Virus Situation'
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] The Gangwon World Forest Expo Organizing Committee announced on the 11th that the "Gangwon World Forest Expo (hereinafter 'Forest Expo')," originally scheduled to be held from May 4 this year, will be postponed by one year.
According to the organizing committee, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the continued uncertainty caused by variants such as Omicron, the decision to postpone the 'Forest Expo' was unavoidable.
The committee stated, "During the one-year postponement period, we plan to prepare various experiential programs that harmonize forests and nature to make it a healing expo through more detailed and thorough preparations."
Additionally, they plan to realize a '4th Industrial Expo' through a hybrid of metaverse and offline events, create a foundation for the revival of Gangwon tourism by attracting 1.32 million visitors, and generate direct and indirect economic effects as a 'Tourism and Economic Expo.'
Therefore, the '2023 Gangwon World Forest Expo' will be held simultaneously in the main venue of Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do (including the Gangwon World Jamboree Training Center) and the sub-venues in Sokcho, Inje, and Yangyang from May 4 to June 6 next year (34 days) under the theme "The World, Humanity's Future, Found in Forests."
