[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, said on the 10th regarding Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party candidate's pledge to abolish the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, "It would be better if he could provide alternatives on how our society can be improved beyond just saying 'abolish' or 'oppose'."
After attending the 'Startup CEO Meeting for Working Women' held at Space Sallim in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, Lee told reporters, "I don't think it's my place to specifically comment on Yoon's policy moves," and made the remarks.
Regarding the feminism controversy following his appearance on Dotface, Lee emphasized, "There should be no unreasonable discrimination in any area. This is a principle that all citizens agree on," adding, "If there are discriminatory factors between men and women, they should be corrected, and if there has been any forced unfair discrimination, that itself needs to be rectified."
He continued, "This is not an issue to be divided by gender, but as a general principle, discriminatory elements should be corrected and elements of equality strengthened," and said, "It should not be used or provoked for political purposes."
