[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, is focusing on policy activities, emphasizing the pledge of "military soldiers' monthly salary of 2 million won" to target the votes of men in their 20s (Idaenam), and announcing regional pledges in Incheon.
Following the previous day, Candidate Yoon also posted on Facebook in the morning, stating, "I will guarantee a monthly salary of 2 million won for soldiers." The post detailed the necessity of the pledge, writing, "Now is the time for the nation to respond to the dedication of young people." On the same day, Yoon released the 3rd and 4th episodes of 59-second 'shorts videos' filmed with Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the People Power Party, and Won Hee-ryong, head of the policy headquarters, highlighting trends among the 2030 generation.
He also devoted efforts to winning public sentiment in the metropolitan area with Incheon pledges. Following the earlier announcement of the Greater Metropolitan Express Railway (GTX) pledge, he announced eight pledges including ▲ undergrounding the Gyeongin Line and the Incheon section of the Gyeongin Expressway ▲ creating alternative landfill sites ▲ focused development of specialized advanced industries by region ▲ active support for regeneration and redevelopment of the old downtown area around Incheon Inner Port. During a Q&A session after a lecture at the Saeal Morning Dialogue in Incheon that morning, he said, "If entrusted with the next government, I plan to promote undergrounding of the Gyeongin Line and the Gyeongin Expressway," adding, "The estimated cost is between 7 to 10 trillion won, but if facilities are built above ground for commercial use, a significant portion of the cost could be covered."
He then visited a small and medium-sized enterprise in Namdong Industrial Complex to inspect the site directly and expressed a strong commitment to actively support SMEs. Mentioning labor flexibility, SME incentives, and easing conditions for business succession, Candidate Yoon moved in the afternoon to the Korea Senior Citizens Association in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, to also target the elderly vote.
