Hansong Neotec Obtains OLED Laminating Patent... "Applying Large-Scale Process, Yield and Productivity Up"

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Hansong Neotec announced on the 10th that it has acquired a patent for screen-type laminating technology for organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels. The company plans to apply this patent to large OLED production processes to significantly improve quality and productivity.

The patent acquired by Hansong Neotec involves a technology that laminates OLED patterns without deformation such as bubbles by fixing a film onto a thin metal screen. It enables production without restrictions on OLED size or model, including ultra-high resolution and large-area multi-cell types.

OLED pattern devices are thinly deposited on glass during the manufacturing process of flexible OLED panels and are separated into cell units during the Laser Lift Off (LLO) stage. Until now, problems such as OLED device damage and bubbles occurred due to film deformation during the laminating process of flexible films on thin patterns, but this patent is expected to dramatically improve these issues.

A Hansong Neotec official stated, “Since this patent can be applied regardless of OLED size, it can bring revolutionary process improvement effects,” adding, “We expect a twofold effect including cost reduction due to increased process efficiency as well as quality improvement.”

According to the industry, at the world’s largest electric and electronics exhibition 'CES 2022,' which opened on the 5th (local time) in Las Vegas, USA, the OLED TV ecosystem is expected to expand significantly.

A Hansong Neotec official said, “The OLED TV market is led by LG Electronics, and with Samsung Electronics reportedly entering the market this year, rapid growth of the global OLED TV market is anticipated,” adding, “Accordingly, benefits from market expansion are expected.”

He further added, “With the productivity increase of global customers due to the OLED panel process improvements applied with this patented technology, it is expected that global OLED panel customers will strengthen service and technical support to Hansong Neotec in the future.”

Hansong Neotec also acquired a patent for laminating technology applied to the film peeling process after OLED deposition equipment in November last year, thereby strengthening its OLED-related technological capabilities.
