Seong Jang-hyun, District Mayor, Donates 1 Million Won Special Red Cross Membership Fee at District Office on the 5th
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seongjang Hyun) held the '2022 Red Cross Special Membership Fee Delivery Ceremony' at the district office on the 5th.
This was to take the lead in the fundraising campaign and create an atmosphere of voluntary participation among residents.
At the ceremony, District Mayor Seongjang Hyun, Han Hyesook, President of the Yongsan District Council of the Korean Red Cross, Vice President Lee Yangsoon, and Lee Hyunsook, Director of the Korean Red Cross Central Volunteer Center, attended. To maintain social distancing, the program and number of participants were minimized.
Yongsan District Mayor Seongjang Hyun said, "We paid a special membership fee of 1 million won to the Korean Red Cross in the name of Yongsan District Office," adding, "I hope this delivery ceremony serves as a catalyst to encourage participation from ordinary residents during these difficult times."
The Korean Red Cross is conducting a membership fee fundraising campaign from December last year until the end of April. The fundraising targets are household heads aged 25 to 75, individual and corporate business owners, and other organizations. Payments can be made by visiting financial institutions, virtual accounts, or online.
The collected Red Cross membership fees will be used for domestic and international emergency relief activities responding to disasters such as COVID-19, educational projects, and public medical service projects that function as a medical safety net for vulnerable groups.
