Integrated connection of welfare facilities for the elderly, disabled, and veterans' organizations with stable service provision... Total floor area 4,254.97㎡, 2 basement levels to 5 floors above ground
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Dongjin Lee) opened the 'Dobong Integrated Welfare Center' (536 Madeul-ro, Dobong-gu) on the 6th to integrate, connect, and provide stable services to welfare facilities for the elderly, disabled, and veterans' organizations that had been scattered throughout the region.
Dobong-gu began proposing the construction of a complex facility by expanding the Dobong Underpass Management Office, which was only a single floor, during a visit by the Seoul Mayor to the Eastern Arterial Road Management Office in 2017. After more than four years of various consultations and reviews with the Seoul Metropolitan Government Urban Infrastructure Headquarters, the Dobong Integrated Welfare Center, a city-district complex facility with a total floor area of 4,254.97㎡ and consisting of two basement floors and five above-ground floors, was built.
Among these, the district manages and operates a total floor area of 3,444.52㎡ from part of the first floor excluding the Dobong Underpass Management Office area up to the fifth floor. ▲The 1st floor is a community rest area ▲The 2nd floor houses the Dobong Lifelong Education Center for People with Developmental Disabilities ▲The 3rd floor is for veterans' organizations ▲The 4th floor accommodates the Dobong Branch of the Korea Senior Citizens Association and the Dobong Integrated Employment Support Center ▲The 5th floor is the Cheongchunmanse Changdong Senior Cultural Center.
To build this facility, the district secured 1.9 billion KRW from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety budget between 2017 and 2018, 5 billion KRW from the Seoul Metropolitan Government budget between 2018 and 2019, and allocated the remaining amount from the district budget, investing a total of approximately 12 billion KRW.
The opening ceremony was held on the 6th in the front yard of the Dobong Integrated Welfare Center, attended by the Dobong-gu Mayor, members of the National Assembly, Seoul Metropolitan Council members, Dobong-gu Council members, resident institutions, and organizations, while adhering to COVID-19 prevention guidelines. The ceremony included a progress report, ribbon cutting, and a tour.
Mayor Dongjin Lee of Dobong-gu stated, “I hope the Dobong Integrated Welfare Center will grow as the first step toward a community where all residents understand and respect each other's existence. We will strive to establish a community welfare system where all classes and generations can safely receive welfare services.”
