KDCA "User App for Electronic Entry Log Access Issue... Currently Normal Service" (Comprehensive)

KDCA "User App for Electronic Entry Log Access Issue... Currently Normal Service" (Comprehensive)

[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] On the afternoon of the 6th, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) announced that there was a delay and access failure issue in the electronic entry log (KI-PASS) business management app, but it has now been restored and normalized.

The business management app is a program that inputs the 'QR check-in' information presented by customers at facilities where the quarantine pass is applied. Users of the facilities experienced inconvenience as the system error persisted for several hours.

The KDCA stated, "After 2 PM today, following cloud server work by the Social Security Information Service, the information management agency, we confirmed the issue through monitoring reports of speed delays and access failures in the business management app," adding, "We promptly proceeded with normalization by replacing the backup database (DB)."

Subsequently, the KDCA explained the cause of the access failure: "After cloud server work to stabilize the electronic entry log server, a failure occurred in the distributed processing server, and then work concentrated on a specific server, causing access failures and delays."

The KDCA said, "The electronic entry log access failure that occurred after 2 PM today was restored by 7:20 PM and is currently operating normally," and "after analyzing the cause of the failure, we will prepare measures to prevent recurrence and make improvements."

Despite the app error, the quarantine authorities plan to continue applying the quarantine pass as before.

Since vaccination certificates, PCR negative confirmations, and exemption certificates can all be visually verified, even if there was an electronic entry log access failure, users can present their own certificates, and if facility managers visually confirmed them, there is no problem applying the quarantine pass.

The authorities added, "If there was a failure in COOV (electronic vaccination certificate) making electronic certification itself difficult, applying the quarantine pass would be difficult, but in this case, since there is no problem with electronic certification, facility use is possible by presenting and verifying certificates."
