20 People Each in Robotics, Future Vehicles, Medical, ICT, and Water Industry Sectors
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Daegu City is nurturing innovative talents who will lead Daegu's new industries.
On the 6th, Daegu City announced that it will select the 5th batch of students for the HuStar Daegu Innovation Academy to recruit outstanding youth.
The HuStar program operated by the city is the first program nationwide to settle excellent talents in the region and foster innovative talents.
The 5th batch will be recruited from the 10th to the 24th, selecting about 20 people each in five fields: robotics, future-type automobiles, medical, ICT, and water industry.
This program is implemented through industry-academia-research-government cooperation, divided into the 'Innovation University' for university students and the 'Innovation Academy' for graduates or prospective graduates.
Eligibility requires applicants to be university or graduate school graduates (including prospective graduates) aged 33 or younger as of the application deadline, with a resident registration address in Daegu or Gyeongbuk. Graduates from universities located in Daegu or Gyeongbuk can apply regardless of their place of residence.
Selected students will receive advanced practical field-oriented education at the graduate school level and participate in internship training at participating companies to strengthen job competencies for about five months from March to August.
Students who attend more than 80% monthly and pass evaluations will receive a monthly education support fund of 1 million KRW, and outstanding students will be awarded a commendation from the Mayor of Daegu and receive a certificate of completion signed by the Mayor of Daegu, Governor of Gyeongbuk, and the head of the organizing educational institution after completing the education.
Kwon Young-jin, Mayor of Daegu, said, "We hope that many outstanding young talents will show interest and apply for this project that will change the future of Daegu."
