[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Ju Ji-hong, Vice President of Sajo Group, has been appointed as the group’s Vice Chairman, marking the full-scale start of third-generation management.
On the 5th, Sajo Group announced that Ju Ji-hong, Head of Food Division (Vice President) of Sajo Group, will be promoted to Vice Chairman of the Food Division in the 2022 regular personnel reshuffle.
Regarding this personnel change, Sajo Group explained, “He was recognized for his contributions to creating a stable profit structure through the successful business restructuring of the group, as well as for new product development and strengthening product competitiveness.”
The newly appointed Vice Chairman Ju was born in 1977, graduated from Yonsei University, earned a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Illinois, and worked at the consulting firm BearingPoint. After graduating with an MBA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, he joined Sajo Group in 2011 as Planning Director at Sajo Haepyo. In 2014, he expanded his management role as Head of Management Support at Sajo Haepyo, and since 2015, he has led the group’s food division as Head of the Food Division.
In his first year as Head of the Food Division, Ju participated in normalizing the management of Dong-Awon, which was incorporated into Sajo Group, contributing to lowering the debt ratio and improving the financial structure, thereby establishing Sajo Dong-Awon as a leading company in the milling industry. In 2019, he also led the merger of Sajo Daerim and Sajo Haepyo, the group’s representative food affiliates, reorganizing the previously dual-structured organization into an efficient and competitive entity. Sajo Daerim has continued its steady growth, posting record-high sales and operating profits expected in 2021 since its founding.
Alongside this, Vice Chairman Ju has devoted efforts to new product development and product improvement to provide consumers with clean and delicious food based on the fundamentals of taste and cleanliness. He is also striving to further grow Sajo Group into a comprehensive food specialist company with beloved brands such as ‘Daerimseon,’ ‘Haepyo,’ and ‘Oyang.’ Furthermore, he plans to strengthen activities fulfilling corporate social responsibility, which is increasingly emphasized across industries.
Regarding his appointment, Vice Chairman Ju stated, “I will build a creative and open organizational culture where all members of Sajo Group can work happily and joyfully, and based on this, I will strive to leap forward as a global food company.”
