[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] Professor Lee Jae-gap, an infectious disease specialist at Hallym University Gangnam Sacred Heart Hospital who encouraged COVID-19 vaccination, reiterated the necessity of vaccination, stating that "the rampage of vaccine haters is severe."

On the 4th, Professor Lee posted on his Facebook, "Vaccine haters leave excessively many comments on my interview articles and YouTube videos. Many of them are insulting. Are they following me around just because I'm somewhat famous?"

He continued, "I don't pay much attention to such comments, but there are still people asking about my and my family's vaccination status," adding, "I have already posted records on the COOV (COVID-19 Electronic Vaccination Certificate) app after the second dose, but I think I should also upload the record of the third dose. My wife has received the third dose, and our three children have completed their second doses," sharing his booster shot vaccination certificate.

Professor Lee said, "We already know the effectiveness of vaccination. Regarding adverse reactions, I want to emphasize that it is not that there are no adverse reactions, but the preventive effect of the vaccine and its effectiveness in preventing severe illness are much more important," adding, "Whether causality has been proven or is difficult to prove, the government has repeatedly emphasized the need for thorough investigation and compensation for severe adverse reactions."

He also stated, "I hope that there will no longer be situations where people hesitate to get vaccinated due to unscientific claims, leaving themselves at risk, but such cases will likely continue," emphasizing, "However, at least the media should not encourage such unscientific claims."

Earlier, on the 4th of last month, Professor Lee appealed on his SNS, "There are many complaints about the expansion of the quarantine pass, but now is not the time to accept such grievances," urging, "To get through this winter somehow, please prioritize vaccination."

He also repeatedly emphasized to those who call the strengthening of the quarantine pass a vaccine mandate that "vaccination is the answer," clarifying, "The quarantine pass requires unvaccinated people to take responsible actions, such as submitting a negative test certificate."
