[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] Professor Jeong Seong-hoon of the Department of Geography Education and Regional Industry-Academia Cooperation at Kangwon National University has been appointed as the president of the Korea Industrial Cluster Association this year.
The Korea Industrial Cluster Association announced on the 3rd that Professor Jeong was elected as president at the regular general meeting held online on the 18th of last month and took office on the 1st of this year.
President Jeong previously served as the director of the Industry-Academia Cooperation Foundation at Kangwon National University, dean of the College of Education, president of the Korean Economic Geography Society, member of the Regional Industry Crisis Deliberation Committee, and expert member on regional industry and jobs at the National Balanced Development Committee. He is currently the vice president of the Korean Geographical Society and serves as an evaluator and advisor for central government and local governments.
The Industrial Cluster Association was registered with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy in 2006. It was established with the purpose of promoting research exchange and joint research on industrial agglomeration activation and innovation clusters, fostering cooperation with domestic and international academic societies and related organizations, and contributing to national balanced development and industrial advancement. Recently, it has been researching various cluster policies such as industrial complexes, advanced industrial complexes, and smart factories, and proposing policy plans to the government and the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation.
