[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] KB Kookmin Bank announced on the 3rd that Lee Jae-geun has taken office as the president of KB Kookmin Bank. At the inauguration ceremony, President Lee expressed gratitude to the 32 million customers who trust and support KB Kookmin Bank, the shareholders and directors who entrusted him with a heavy responsibility, and the employees who are doing their best for the bank's development. He also presented four core management directions toward becoming the number one financial platform company.
President Lee Jae-geun stated, "The beginning and end of all financial services is the customer," and declared, "To provide differentiated customer experiences, we will continue to enhance the completeness of KB's platforms, such as KB Star Banking, so that they can encompass customers' daily lives as a 'Digital Universal Bank'." He also emphasized that all branches nationwide will be organically connected with mobile platforms and call centers to promote the completeness of the 'Omni-channel' system.
President Lee plans to strengthen various business models to generate stable profits despite an uncertain future. The organizational restructuring, including the transition to the 'KB-type Platform Organization Phase 2,' has secured momentum for this.
He said, "To strengthen the sales competitiveness of branches, which are the core foundation of KB Kookmin Bank's growth, we will further advance the 'PG 2.0' sales system and lead a paradigm shift in face-to-face sales through the successful establishment of the '9 To 6 Bank'." Additionally, he mentioned that by focusing management capabilities on core growth areas such as Wealth Management (WM), Corporate Investment Banking (CIB), capital markets, global sectors, as well as digital new business sectors like MyData and platform business, they will achieve results.
Regarding organizational culture, he conveyed the message that "KB must change the way it works to be young and dynamic in thought," and that "setting bold goals, challenging ourselves to the end with our best efforts, and having 'Team KB'?where all employees can unite their strength and wisdom for the organization's victory?should be at the center of our organizational culture." Along with this, he said, "I want to create an organization where 'hidden workers' who fulfill their roles and responsibilities are recognized and fairly rewarded."
President Lee Jae-geun deeply recognizes the role and responsibility of financial companies in society and the economy amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and economic downturn, and believes that a proactive attitude toward practicing the values of coexistence and inclusion is necessary. In this regard, he stated, "We will do our best not only to provide financial support for small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners but also to support startups in new growth and innovation fields such as the 'Green New Deal,' and we will become a sincere exemplary corporate citizen in ESG management and social contribution."
Finally, he concluded by urging, "To implement the core management directions, I ask everyone to join together 'together, all together,'" and said, "Let us make 2022 a wonderful year for KB Kookmin Bank, true to its name as the people's bank, with the spirit of a roaring tiger."
Meanwhile, immediately after the inauguration ceremony, President Lee Jae-geun's first step was to visit the Yeouido branch to spend time meeting customers. He met with customers who have been banking with KB Kookmin Bank for three generations, exchanged words of gratitude, and also conveyed New Year's greetings to customers through video consultation services.
