[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Changwon National University announced on the 3rd that Professor Jo Young-tae of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Smart Manufacturing Convergence Major, was the sole recipient of the '15th Gyeongsangnam-do Science and Technology Award.'


The Gyeongsangnam-do Science and Technology Award, established in 2003 to encourage research enthusiasm and spread a scientific atmosphere among residents, selects and awards one outstanding scientist in the engineering field and one in the natural sciences field each time.


Professor Jo received the award in the engineering category in 2021 in recognition of his significant contributions to the development of science and technology, research and development, and technological innovation in Gyeongsangnam-do, which greatly contributed to regional economic and industrial development.


Professor Jo is serving as the vice president of the Korean Society of Mechanical Processing Engineers and has contributed to the development of regional science and technology through active research activities, including publishing over 100 papers. He has also applied for more than 100 patents related to advanced manufacturing technologies and is fully committed to commercialization through technology transfer.


Recently, he has been focusing on research related to nano-micro patterning technology and additive manufacturing technology. He serves as the director of the Changwon National University Smart Manufacturing Technology Center, head of the BK21 Smart Factory Education and Research Group, and director of the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Leading University Project Group, making efforts in technology development and human resource training.


Professor Jo stated, "I will continue to do my best in research and education to nurture excellent talents who can lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution era and to lead the co-growth of industry-academia-research collaborative research and development."
