Gwangju Buk-gu, New Village Bus Route 788 to Operate from the 31st

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju announced on the 29th that it will start operating village bus route 788 from the 31st.

Buk-gu, which currently operates one village bus route 777, has newly established two additional village bus routes this year to eliminate blind spots in public transportation and improve commuting convenience for students.

The routes were finalized last July after collecting residents' opinions, conducting research projects, holding regional public hearings, and consulting related organizations.

Route 788 covers a total distance of 18.5 km from Nambu University Municipal International Swimming Pool (starting point) to Cheomdan Transportation Park, Yangji Elementary School, Northern Police Station, Malbau Market (West), and ends at Sihwa Cultural Village Culture Center (terminus), with 47 stops.

Route 799 covers a total distance of 22 km from Salesio High School (starting point) to Yangsan Town, Yeonje Jugong Apartments, Unamsan Kolon Haneulchae Apartments, City Hall, Sangmu Station, and ends at Kim Daejung Convention Center Station (terminus), with 44 stops.

The first bus on route 788 departs at 6:10 a.m., and the last bus at 9:30 p.m., with intervals of about 25 minutes. A 25-seat bus will be deployed on the route, and the fare and transfer system are the same as city buses.

Route 799 is scheduled to start operating in February next year after the installation of stops and completion of related facilities.

Director Moon In said, “With the addition of two village bus routes this time, it is expected that the convenience of public transportation use and commuting conditions will improve for residents in the Gak-hwa, Duam, Yangsan, and Geon-gukdong areas. We will continue to strive to create a public transportation environment suited to local conditions.”

Meanwhile, the opening ceremony is scheduled to be held at 3 p.m. on the 30th in the parking lot of Sihwa Cultural Village Culture Center.
