22 Women and Family-Oriented Preliminary Social Enterprises Designated Including 'Iuthada'

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family designated 22 new women and family-type preliminary social enterprises in the second half of this year.

On the 23rd, the Ministry announced that from September 13 to October 7, a total of 46 companies participated in the second half preliminary social enterprise designation contest, more than twice the number from the first half, and 22 companies were selected. Including the 9 companies designated in the first half, a total of 31 companies have been designated as women and family-type preliminary social enterprises this year.

Women and family-type preliminary social enterprises refer to companies expected to contribute to improving quality of life by providing quality jobs to women with career interruptions and vulnerable groups, creating women- and family-friendly jobs, and providing social services.

Among the newly designated companies, "Jusikhoesa Iuthada" operates a platform connecting patients or caregivers with care service providers. It won the grand prize at this year’s Women and Family-Friendly (Preliminary) Social Enterprise Business Idea Contest and was newly designated after receiving advisory support.

"Becoming Mom School," which produces and distributes educational content related to pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare, and "Onmam Dahae Jusikhoesa," which operates art programs for single-parent families and develops and sells related products, were also selected.

The Ministry provides these companies with basic diagnostics for business operation, consulting to strengthen competitiveness, business expense support, opportunities for inter-company exchange, and support for transitioning to certified social enterprises.

Up to this year, the Ministry has designated a total of 150 women and family-type preliminary social enterprises, of which 29 have grown into certified social enterprises and are actively operating. Going forward, the Ministry plans to discover and expand social economy organization models in the women and family sector, such as guaranteeing rights for domestic workers and providing customized support for single-person households.

Kim Kyung-sun, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, said, "I hope that women and family-type preliminary social enterprises will contribute to solving various social issues surrounding women and families through communal solidarity and collaboration, and we will continue to support them so that they can take root in local communities by providing quality jobs and social services."
