Minister of Employment and Labor Award Winner... Recognized as a 'Model Company for Job Creation'
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] SK Nexilis, an investment company in SKC's copper foil business, received the Minister of Employment and Labor Award in recognition of significantly increasing quality jobs and strengthening work-life balance (Work-Life Balance, "Wolabal").
On the 23rd, SK Nexilis received the Ministerial Award for Job Creation Merit from the Ministry of Employment and Labor. The Job Creation Merit Award is a government award given annually since 2009 to organizations or individuals who have played a leading role in creating quality jobs. Following its selection as a "Korea's Best Job Company" by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Job Committee in July this year, SK Nexilis has been recognized as a model company for job creation with this latest award.
As of June this year, SK Nexilis had 432 employees, an increase of 62% over two years and 95% compared to four years ago. Among them, the proportion of young employees under the age of 34 also rose from 34% in 2019 to 42% this year. In particular, the conversion to regular employment has also increased significantly. Since 2017, the number of employees converted to regular positions has exceeded 10% of the current workforce.
SK Nexilis is improving not only the quantity but also the quality of jobs. After SKC's acquisition, some production lines that operated on a 3-shift, 3-team system were changed to a 4-shift, 3-team system, reducing weekly working hours and creating additional employment. Since January this year, flexible working hours and PC-off systems have been introduced to strengthen employees' work-life balance, continuing efforts to improve the working environment.
An SK Nexilis official said, "SK Nexilis' goal to become the world's number one copper foil manufacturer based on the best manufacturing technology for electric vehicle batteries is something we achieve together with our members," adding, "We will create an environment to produce the world's best products and contribute to the development of the future mobility industry."
