[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Seoul City announced that the number of new COVID-19 confirmed cases was tentatively counted at 1,698 over 21 hours from 12:00 AM to 9:00 PM on the 20th.


This is 119 more than the 1,579 cases reported during the same time period on the previous day (19th) and 284 fewer than the 1,982 cases reported a week earlier on the 13th. The total number of confirmed cases for the entire day was 1,908 on the 19th and 2,062 on the 13th.


The daily number of confirmed cases in Seoul exceeded 2,000 for the first time on the 30th of last month (2,222 cases), then reached a record high of 3,166 cases on the 14th of this month, marking the first time it surpassed 3,000. The number remained in the 3,000 range on the 15th, then dropped to the 2,000 range from the 16th to the 18th, and further decreased to the 1,000 range on the 19th.


As of 9:00 PM on the 20th, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Seoul was tentatively counted at 204,953. The final total number of confirmed cases will be compiled as of 12:00 AM on the 21st and announced in the morning.
