[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] Lawyer Kang Yong-seok raised suspicions about the admission of Lee Jae-myung, the second son of the Democratic Party presidential candidate, to a foreign language high school, but the claim has been proven false.

On the 20th, Lawyer Kang wrote on his Facebook, "Lee's second son, Lee, graduated from Hanyoung Foreign Language High School in February 2012," adding, "Hanyoung Foreign Language High School is located in Seoul, and all family members have their addresses in Seoul, and the student himself must have graduated from a middle school in Seoul to be eligible to apply."

He continued, "Since Lee's second son graduated from middle school in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, and has continued to live in Seongnam, how could he have graduated from Hanyoung Foreign Language High School?" and said, "The clue to the admission corruption should start from here."

However, according to the 2009 admission guidelines of Hanyoung Foreign Language High School, when Lee's son entered high school, the content claimed by Lawyer Kang was not true. The 2009 admission eligibility for new students at Hanyoung Foreign Language High School was 'those who have graduated (or are expected to graduate) from middle school at the time of application or those recognized as having equivalent academic ability and meet the detailed qualification requirements for each application category,' and there were no restrictions on recruitment areas.

Jeon Yong-gi, spokesperson for the Democratic Party's presidential campaign committee, said, "It seems that the People Power Party and their spearhead are trying to make people uncomfortable by throwing 'admission corruption' suspicions," likening Lawyer Kang to a spearhead attached to the People Power Party.

He added, "The core of the suspicion is 'How did Lee Jae-myung's second son, who is not from Seoul, get into Hanyoung Foreign Language High School?' but at that time, anyone from any region could apply to Hanyoung Foreign Language High School and could be admitted and graduate," emphasizing this point.

He also pointed out, "It is truly regrettable that they are so eager to criticize without even checking materials that can be found with a 30-second Google search," and said, "The politics of deception that blinds the public must now be cut off."

Meanwhile, the post by Lawyer Kang on Facebook alleging admission corruption at Hanyoung Foreign Language High School has been deleted.
