[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 20th that it received the Grand Prize in the Housing Welfare and Quality of Life Improvement category, the Excellent Center Director Award, and the Excellent Coordinator Award at the ‘Urban Regeneration Hanmadang’ held at the Cheongju Cultural Manufacturing Complex.
The Urban Regeneration Hanmadang event, hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and others, was organized under the slogan ‘Together Again, Urban Regeneration’ to share the achievements of local residents, field activists, and social economy enterprises participating in urban regeneration.
At this Hanmadang event, the county attended the Urban Regeneration Governance Forum held as a side event on the 16th and was honored with the Grand Prize for Excellent Local Government in the ‘Housing Welfare and Quality of Life Improvement’ category.
The improvement of residential conditions for residents in the original town through housing environment improvement and alleyway maintenance projects in Yongpyeong-ri (General Neighborhood Type) and Indang Village (Our Neighborhood Revival), as well as the home repair support project that improves the external appearance of houses over 20 years old, played a significant role in the evaluation by enhancing the quality of life and rebuilding community spirit of the local residents.
In the intermediate support organization category, Hamyang-gun received the highest evaluation among county-level regions, winning the Excellent Center Director Award and all employees of the Hamyang-gun Urban Regeneration Support Center receiving the Excellent Coordinator Award.
Choi In-gi, Director of Safety and Construction, said, “By attending this Urban Regeneration Hanmadang event, we were able to observe and learn many advanced cases implemented by other local governments, and we will strive to apply them well to projects to be carried out in our county in the future.” He added, “In addition to H/W projects, we are preparing many resident-participatory S/W projects to leap toward urban regeneration that retains people, so we hope the residents actively participate.”
