[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Song Ha-jin, Governor of Jeonbuk, has been appointed as co-chairman of the Democratic Party's Committee for Truly Good Local Governments.
On the 20th, the Democratic Party held a Supreme Council meeting and unanimously resolved to appoint Governor Song as co-chairman of the Democratic Party's Committee for Truly Good Local Governments.
The Committee for Truly Good Local Governments is a permanent organization within the Democratic Party, established in 2010 to prepare concrete implementation plans for local decentralization constitutional amendments and national balanced development agendas, strengthen cooperation with local governments and local councils, expand support, and manage related matters.
The Committee stated that Governor Song Ha-jin's appointment as co-chairman was because he is "the right person to open a true era of decentralization in the Republic of Korea."
This appointment is interpreted as reflecting expectations that Governor Song's experience and capabilities as a local administrator for 40 years can enhance the practical completeness of local decentralization, and the judgment that, as the first-ever re-elected chairman of the Council of Governors, he is the right person to lead communication and collaboration with local governments.
As the chairman of the Korea Council of Governors, Governor Song Ha-jin will take on a leading role in deciding local policies in both local administration and central politics through this co-chairman appointment.
Governor Song said, "As co-chairman of the Committee for Truly Good Local Governments, I will firmly convey the wishes and aspirations of local areas and join forces with the political sphere to respond to local decentralization and local crises."
