An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on the same day, "The Consulate General in Cebu, Philippines, will continuously check for any casualties or property damage among our nationals related to the typhoon and closely monitor the situation."
The Cebu Consulate General has activated its own situation room in preparation for "Rai" and is regularly disseminating typhoon updates through the local Korean Association and consular cooperation officers.
According to foreign media, local police reported that the super typhoon Rai caused 208 deaths, 239 injuries, and at least 52 people are missing.
