[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, trainee reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency is hosting the ‘Public Safety Policy Idea Contest’ in collaboration with the Busan City Autonomous Police Committee.
The contest aims to discover measures for the protection and support of socially vulnerable groups such as women, children, and adolescents that meet the expectations of citizens.
Held to mark the second anniversary of the launch of the autonomous police system in 2022, the contest responds to citizens’ expectations and demands for public safety policies tailored to the Busan region.
Busan citizens can participate by downloading the proposal form from the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency or police station websites from the 20th until January 14, 2022.
Submissions can include ideas related to crime prevention, protection and support, and legal enactment or revision targeting socially vulnerable groups such as women, children, and adolescents. The police agency plans to select and reward a total of 17 finalists.
The selected proposals will undergo an in-depth process including focused discussions with the submitters and expert consultations to convert ideas into policies.
The police plan to incorporate these policies when establishing major initiatives.
The police agency stated, “We expect this to actively discover and promote public safety policies needed by citizens, thereby enhancing trust in the police and contributing to improved perceived safety.”
This year, Busan police are implementing citizen-centered policies such as the ‘Stalking Solution Council,’ ‘Child-Loving Parent Education,’ and the ‘Happy Family Hope Dream Project.’
