'Incheon Gaehangjang Cultural Heritage Night Tour' Selected as an Excellent Project by the Cultural Heritage Administration

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The '2021 Incheon Open Port Cultural Heritage Night Tour' was selected as an excellent project in the 'Cultural Heritage Night Tour' category, a regional cultural heritage utilization program hosted by the Cultural Heritage Administration.

Hosted by Jung-gu, Incheon, and organized by the Incheon Tourism Organization, the Incheon Open Port Cultural Heritage Night Tour was held twice, in July and November. This year, it received high praise for planning cultural heritage projection mapping, a citizen participation Open Port Makers contest, and barrier-free programs.

It also won the silver award in the quarantine and safety program category at the '15th Pinnacle Awards' hosted by the Korea branch of the International Festivals & Events Association. Considering the characteristics of a nighttime festival, it received positive evaluations by utilizing LED quarantine badges and umbrellas, adding visual effects and functionality.

Since the opening of Incheon Port in 1883, the Open Port area has been formed around the port, centered on Chinatown across from Incheon Station and Jung-gu Office. It is lined with buildings with over 100 years of history, allowing visitors to enjoy an atmosphere as if traveling back in time to the Enlightenment period.

An official from the Incheon Tourism Organization said, "Despite many difficulties due to the event being postponed three times this year because of the spread of COVID-19, we are pleased to have received excellent evaluations in program planning using regional specialized content and in quarantine and safety management on site."

Meanwhile, the Incheon Open Port Cultural Heritage Night Tour has been selected for the Cultural Heritage Administration's Night Tour contest for six consecutive years and is scheduled to be held again in 2022.
