[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City showed excellent results in the regional welfare project evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
Seo-gu announced on the 20th that it won awards including the grand prize for the second consecutive year in the ▲Visiting Health and Welfare Service Provision category, as well as the grand prize in the ▲Private Cooperation and Resource Connection category, the highest award in the ▲Community Integrated Care Service Provision category, the highest award in the ▲Medical Aid Case Management Project category, and the excellence award in the ▲Post-management of Social Security Benefits category.
In other Ministry of Health and Welfare evaluations, Seo-gu received the highest award in the ▲Senior Job and Social Activity Support Project category and the highest award in the ▲Regional Self-Support Center Performance category.
Additionally, the ▲Hope Delivery Service project was selected as an innovative case in resident life by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety in 2021, reaffirming that Gwangju Seo-gu’s welfare projects are leading nationwide.
This award was the result of directly establishing neighborhood welfare plans together with village activists under the motto “The answer to welfare lies in the field,” strengthening the discovery of welfare blind spots through visits and consultations, and integrated case management.
Moreover, Seo-gu received favorable evaluations for pioneering the nationwide first LTE-based Gwangju-type Artificial Intelligence (AI) care system, personalized AI welfare counselor care services, mobile safety care services to prevent solitary deaths among single-person households, and online welfare academies?policies unique to Seo-gu.
The nationally top-level ‘Our Neighborhood Guardian Angels’ community social security council, the Seo-gu One Family Sharing Project, Hope Plus Project, and community integrated care services created a “people-centered Seo-gu welfare network” that fosters an atmosphere where residents voluntarily help and care for their neighbors.
In particular, the community integrated care pilot project that shifted the welfare paradigm to “comfortable old age in one’s own home,” the Hope Delivery Service that discovers families in crisis by utilizing delivery personnel, and the AI speaker-based artificial intelligence care system equipped with 24-hour care and security company dispatch for emergency SOS response?the only one of its kind nationwide?have continuously attracted inquiries from other local governments.
Seo Dae-seok, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, “This is the result of sincere efforts to implement people-centered welfare administration,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to provide people-centered integrated services through Seo-gu’s specialized customized care services.”
