[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] Kyobo Education Foundation announced on the 20th that it is recruiting the '20th Kyobo Life Hope Dasom Scholarship Students' until January 16 next year.
The Kyobo Life Hope Dasom Scholarship is a scholarship program for youths who have left orphanages or come from low-income families. It selects 20 new university students nationwide and provides tuition support of 2 million KRW per semester for four years, totaling 16 million KRW until graduation. Over the past 19 years, about 400 students have received scholarships, with total support amounting to approximately 5 billion KRW.
In addition to providing scholarships, the foundation actively supports the scholarship student community to establish bonds and emotional networks. Scholarship student camps are held in the first and second halves of the year, with about 100 scholarship students participating. Activities include senior scholarship student mentoring, character education lectures, and career exploration.
Seon Jong-hak, Chairman of Kyobo Education Foundation, said, "Every year when selecting scholarship students, I think of twenty new 'family members' joining us," adding, "Our goal is to give each scholarship student the feeling that they are not 'alone' and to create a family in a broader sense."
