[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Hankook Tire & Technology announced on the 20th that it has opened a new office for its European Technology Center (ETC) in N?rburg, Germany, and will begin testing ultra-high-performance tires using the N?rburgring circuit.
Hankook Tire first established its ETC in Hanover, Germany in 1997 and has been conducting European research projects since then. The company explained that it develops new car tires used by European automakers while conducting tire tests under the most perfect conditions.
The N?rburgring circuit, located near the new ETC office, is famous as a place where European premium automakers test the performance of new cars.
Known as the "Green Hell" due to its rugged terrain and difficulty, the N?rburgring circuit provides optimal conditions for tire testing.
Hankook Tire plans to continue new car tire (OE) testing at the N?rburgring circuit in collaboration with European automakers.
Hankook Tire has already conducted collaborative tests using the N?rburgring circuit with Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Volkswagen, and others. Going forward, the Hankook Tire N?rburgring workshop will carry out various tests for ultra-high-performance tire research and development (R&D).
Meanwhile, Hankook Tire has been expanding its R&D bases in Europe, including the winter tire performance testing ground "Technotrac," opened in 2017 in the Ivalo region of Finland.
