[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 20th that it has developed educational content to enhance the digital transformation response capabilities of workers in the travel industry.
The Tourism Organization has newly launched the "Digital Competency Enhancement Online Course for the Travel Industry" on the Tourism e-Learning Center, a learning website for tourism professionals. This is the first time that educational content has been systematically prepared and an online course opened. Especially amid the worsening spread of COVID-19, the availability of such non-face-to-face education is expected to be of great help to industry workers.
To develop this educational content, the Tourism Organization conducted a systematic process since March, including demand surveys targeting travel industry workers, travel market analysis, and case studies on digital transformation. Additionally, the content was produced through collaboration between tourism and ICT experts to provide practical assistance for the industry's digital transformation. To avoid a tedious and dull atmosphere, the course departs from the traditional simple lecture format and employs a micro-learning approach using various techniques such as motion graphics, simulations, mini-dramas, animations, and interviews, making it easy and interesting to approach the topics effectively.
The courses starting from today include a total of 13 modules designed to strengthen digital mindset and innovation capabilities: ▲Tourism Business Trends ▲Fourth Industrial Revolution Technologies and Business Changes ▲Digital Transformation Strategies in Tourism through Case Studies ▲DX-based Tourism Business Model Promotion Strategies ▲Tourism Owned Media Utilization Strategies ▲Customer Experience Design and Customer Value Proposals in Tourism ▲Digital Transformation Promotion Strategies in Tourism. The Tourism Organization plans to open an additional 34 courses around mid-February next year, including ▲Google Analytics Utilization ▲Digital Marketing Campaigns for Tourism ▲Mobile Marketing Communication for Tourism.
The digital competency enhancement courses are free for anyone who registers as a member of the Tourism e-Learning Center. To commemorate the course launch, there will also be new member registration events and course completion events for two months.
Kim Kyung-tae, head of the Tourism Workforce Education Team at the Korea Tourism Organization, said, "This education was prepared to cultivate mid- to long-term digital transformation response capabilities, reflecting the high interest and demand from the industry for digital competency enhancement education." He added, "Based on multifaceted demand surveys, we plan to additionally develop level-based education linking the Tourism e-Learning Center with offline programs."
