Hanwha Techwin "Focus on Security Trends Next Year Including AI, Edge Computing, and Cloud"

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Hanwha Techwin on the 20th presented five video security industry trends to watch next year as ▲Artificial Intelligence (AI) Edge Computing ▲AI Solutions ▲Service-based Business Models ▲Responsible and Ethical Use ▲Technology Convergence, naming them 'T.I.G.E.R.'

The first trend mentioned by Hanwha Techwin is AI edge computing. In video security, edge computing refers to CCTV processing and analyzing video on its own. Since the camera processes data and sends it to the server, it reduces time and cost and lessens the load on the server, thus its role is increasingly strengthened.

For this, competitiveness in system semiconductors (SoC), which determine video quality and analysis performance, is essential. In particular, the importance of neural processing units (NPU), AI semiconductors modeled after the human brain's neural network, is growing. Hanwha Techwin explained that recognizing the importance of such system semiconductors, it is developing its own system semiconductors to enhance edge computing performance.

The second trend is AI solutions. This refers to a form where CCTV collects visual information like the human eye, and AI analyzes it to provide meaningful information. Hanwha Techwin plans to develop solutions that combine CCTV and AI for use in various fields in the future. The third trend is service-based business models, and Hanwha Techwin is preparing full-scale cloud services, led by WiseNet SKY recently launched in North America.

Along with this, Hanwha Techwin forecasted that responsible and ethical use of security equipment and linking various devices and technologies to break down the boundaries of existing industries will become important. Hanwha Techwin has applied cybersecurity functions from design to actual use, obtaining the international cybersecurity certification 'UL CAP,' and is also developing privacy protection functions that automatically mosaic sensitive personal information.
