[Asia Economy Reporter Tae-min Ryu] Han Jae-jun, CEO of Daewoo Industrial Development, received the Industrial Medal of Merit for his contributions to the development of the housing construction industry at the ‘2021 Housing Construction Day’ ceremony.
On the 15th, Han Jae-jun received the Industrial Medal of Merit at the ‘2021 Housing Construction Day’ ceremony held at the Federation of Korean Industries building in Yeouido, Seoul. Since his appointment in 2015, Han has been recognized for his efforts to stabilize housing. The Industrial Medal of Merit is an honor awarded to those with outstanding achievements contributing to industrial and national development. Notably, the final recipients are selected through strict verification regarding safety accidents and social contributions, followed by approval at the Cabinet meeting, making the award highly significant.
Since Han’s appointment, Daewoo Industrial Development has supplied over 31,000 housing units through construction brands such as ‘iaan’ and ‘Exordium.’ In particular, the company has maintained profitability for six consecutive years since his appointment, earning recognition for its significant contribution to job creation and economic revitalization.
Han has also worked to revitalize local economies and foster win-win cooperation with partner companies. After acquiring bankrupt projects in three regions?Daegu, Jeonju, and Gwangyang?Daewoo Industrial Development successfully completed sales and operates various mutual growth programs, including numerous joint construction projects with local firms.
Additionally, to improve housing quality, the company developed a new floor plan structure called the ‘Life Efficiency System,’ which incorporates five lifestyles (Salimchakchak, Gwallichukchuk, Jaemitoktok, Yorittukttak, Ansimdundeun). Through an autonomous safety management system aimed at preventing industrial accidents, the company has strived to achieve zero accidents by conducting CEO site inspections at least once a month and quarterly emergency evacuation drills at all sites.
Furthermore, the company founded the in-house volunteer group ‘iaan Sarangbathoe,’ led by employees, which has continuously engaged in volunteer activities such as blood donation drives, briquette delivery, and ‘Love’s Meal Truck’ service for marginalized neighbors twice a year. Even amid the pandemic, when face-to-face volunteering became difficult, the affiliate DW Bio donated over 1.2 million masks to numerous institutions, practicing sharing and giving.
Han Jae-jun, CEO of Daewoo Industrial Development, expressed his thoughts on receiving the Industrial Medal of Merit: “I believe this great award was possible thanks to the dedicated efforts of our employees who have worked together over the years. I sincerely thank them.” He added, “Going forward, I will lead the company as Korea’s representative residential lifestyle culture enterprise, pioneering new values and cultures based on expertise and innovation.”
‘Housing Construction Day’ is an event jointly hosted by the Korea Housing Association, the Korea Housing Builders Association, and the Housing & Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG), where government awards and commendations from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport are presented to individuals who have contributed to the development of the housing construction industry.
