[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Sumi] The Democratic Party of Korea evaluated former People Power Party lawmaker Yoon Hee-sook's joining of Yoon Seok-yeol's presidential campaign committee as a "provocateur who returned with reckless remarks."
On the 11th, Kang Seon-woo, spokesperson for the Democratic Party's campaign committee, said in a briefing, "Former lawmaker Yoon, who resigned due to allegations of his father's violation of the Farmland Act, has joined Yoon Seok-yeol's campaign committee."
Earlier, former lawmaker Yoon resigned after allegations of his father's violation of the Farmland Act surfaced following the National Rights Commission's full investigation of lawmakers' real estate in September, and on the 10th, he announced his joining of the People Power Party's campaign committee through his SNS.
In response, spokesperson Kang criticized, "It seems he has fulfilled his responsibility in just three months," adding, "When he resigned from his lawmaker position, instead of showing self-restraint and reflection, he unleashed unjustified anger, and it seems he never truly understood why he resigned."
Furthermore, Kang raised the level of criticism by listing individuals previously embroiled in controversies over their suitability for recruitment to Yoon Seok-yeol's campaign committee.
He said, "Seeing them bring in former lawmaker Yoon, who even resigned due to his father's real estate speculation issue, on top of Kim Seong-tae, Ham Ik-byeong, and Noh Jae-seung, is simply despairing," adding, "The duplicity of former lawmaker Yoon has long been exposed to the public."
He also stated, "Shamelessness and rudeness are the true nature of Yoon Seok-yeol's campaign committee."
Meanwhile, former lawmaker Yoon officially announced his joining of the People Power Party's campaign committee on the 10th via his Facebook, simultaneously targeting Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung.
In his post, Yoon criticized, "Candidate Lee survived by any means necessary but politically should have been dead long ago because he disregards the law and is too lacking as a human being. If he does not significantly improve, there is no hope. He only reacts opportunistically without any consistent values or principles."
He also pointed out, "It is noticeable that Candidate Lee claims to be an economic president. However, I am not here to nitpick whether he understands basic economic principles," adding, "What is truly important is the meaning of the 'Lee Jae-myung' phenomenon in Korean society, and the intention to cover it up with the small lie of being an economic president caught my attention."
