185 Confirmed Cases and 1 Death in Gyeongnam... Many with Unknown Infection Routes

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] As the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) continues to exceed 7,000 daily, the number of COVID-19 cases is also steadily increasing in the Gyeongnam region.

Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 9th at 5 p.m. that 185 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the province.

By region, there were 46 cases in Changwon, 40 in Gimhae, 35 in Jinju, 14 in Sacheon, 12 in Geoje, 9 in Haman, 7 in Miryang, 6 in Hapcheon, 4 in Geochang, 3 in Tongyeong, 2 each in Yangsan, Changnyeong, and Namhae, and 1 each in Goseong, Sancheong, and Hamyang. Except for Hadong and Uiryeong, all other cities and counties reported confirmed cases.

Regarding the infection routes, among the total confirmed cases, 112 had contact with confirmed cases within the province such as family and acquaintances. 16 were infected through contact with confirmed cases from Busan and Gyeonggi.

Three additional cases were confirmed related to the bathhouse cluster infection in Haman. The cumulative number of confirmed cases related to the Haman bathhouse has increased to 62.

One case was an overseas entrant. The infection routes of the remaining 53 cases are under investigation.

In Gyeongnam, 193 confirmed cases were reported from midnight to midnight on the 8th, marking the highest number of daily confirmed cases since the spread of COVID-19.

Previously, the highest number was 173 cases on October 29.

Additionally, health authorities reported that a patient in their 90s who was hospitalized and receiving treatment at Ulsan Yangji Nursing Hospital passed away.

Accordingly, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the province has risen to 16,294 (1,415 hospitalized, 14,820 discharged, 59 deceased).
