청 "Uzbekistan President's State Visit to Korea from 16th to 18th" (Comprehensive)

Invited by President Moon, visit to Korea with summit scheduled on the 17th... A reciprocal state visit following the 2019 state visit

[Asia Economy reporters Ryu Jeong-min and Lee Ji-eun] Blue House spokesperson Park Kyung-mi announced on the 9th, "Uzbekistan President Mirziyoyev will make a state visit to Korea for 2 nights and 3 days from the 16th to the 18th, upon the invitation of President Moon Jae-in."


President Moon and the Uzbekistan President will hold a summit on the 17th. A state banquet is also scheduled for that day. President Moon plans to continue the summit with the Uzbekistan President domestically immediately after concluding his visit to Australia.


Spokesperson Park explained, "President Mirziyoyev’s visit to Korea is a reciprocal visit following President Moon’s state visit to Uzbekistan in 2019. The two leaders plan to discuss future-oriented and mutually beneficial cooperation enhancement measures ahead of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year."

Spokesperson Park said, "President Moon will hold his fourth summit with President Mirziyoyev during his term, including a video conference in January this year," adding, "The two leaders will discuss expanding practical cooperation in various fields for better recovery from COVID-19 and exchange views on promoting cultural and human exchanges between the two countries as well as strengthening cooperation on the international stage."


Spokesperson Park added, "While strengthening friendly cooperation with Uzbekistan, a key partner in the New Northern Policy, this visit is expected to serve as an opportunity to further deepen the special strategic partnership between the two countries, which was elevated during President Moon’s state visit to Uzbekistan in 2019."


Meanwhile, a senior Blue House official explained the background of publicly announcing the Uzbekistan President’s visit schedule, saying, "We decided to announce it together with Uzbekistan today."
