Construction Begins on Final Section of Incheon Yeongjongdo Coastal Loop Road... Opening Scheduled for Late 2024 Location Map of Yeongjong Coastal Circular Road Construction Section [Provided by Incheon City]

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Construction has begun on the last unopened section of the circular road that goes around the coast of Yeongjongdo, where Incheon International Airport is located.

On the 9th, Incheon City held a groundbreaking ceremony for the unopened section of the Yeongjong Coastal Circular Road in Jungsan-dong, Jung-gu, attended by Mayor Park Namchun and City Council Chairman Shin Eunho, among others.

This road, with a total project cost of 45 billion KRW, will be constructed over a 2.99 km section from Jungsan-dong to Unbuk-dong in Jung-gu, with a width of 15 meters and two lanes in each direction.

This project section is the only unopened part of the road that circulates along the coast of Yeongjongdo in Jung-gu. Once the road opens at the end of 2024, the entire 53.7 km section of the Yeongjong Coastal Circular Road will be connected, completing a large circular traffic system for the entire Yeongjong district.

In particular, by entering the Yeongjong Coastal Circular Road via Yeongjong Bridge or Incheon Bridge, it will be possible to pass through Incheon International Airport, the complex leisure facility Hansang Dream Island, and Midan City, which is expected to help activate tourism and leisure functions.

Mayor Park Namchun stated, "The Yeongjong Coastal Circular Road connecting Yeongjong Sky City and Midan City, a long-cherished project for Yeongjong residents, has taken its first step. Through this project, we will complete the large circular traffic system for the entire Yeongjong district and do our best to attract investment and revitalize the local economy in Yeongjongdo, Muido, and Sindo by linking it with the ongoing projects of the Third Interconnection Bridge and the Yeongjong-Sindo Peace Road opening."
