[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] On the 9th, Changwon City in Gyeongnam presented donation certificates and plaques of appreciation to Kim Gaon and Woo Jeong-min, who donated 67 artifacts.
The donated artifacts will be used as valuable research materials for exhibition, academic study, and education at the soon-to-be-established Changwon Museum.
The donated items include old documents passed down through the donor's family, such as the Gomonseo Soyojeong Poetry Album (逍遙亭 詩帖), contracts (契案), a SINGER hand sewing machine made in 1910, and a medicinal herb scale personally used by Kim Ki-young, a Confucian scholar and Korean medicine doctor from the Changwon area.
These materials are valuable not only for research on the region's modern and contemporary history but also for studies on daily life history.
Mayor Heo Seong-mu said, "We deeply appreciate the donors who willingly came forward to donate artifacts. Anything that can be a trace of an individual's life and the region can become an artifact, and we promise to preserve and manage the donated artifacts permanently, honoring their significance."
The city is accepting donations of documents, maps, photos, books containing the region's history, as well as daily necessities that hold personal memories of citizens. Citizens who wish to donate can contact the Cultural Heritage Promotion and Changwon Museum Establishment TF Team.
