[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shim Jeong-woo] Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Song Gwi-geun) announced on the 9th that three sites in Geumsan-myeon Cheongseok Port, Udu Port, and Daeseo-myeon Singi·Songnim area, which were selected as target sites for the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' 2022 Fishing Village New Deal 300 Project, have been newly selected as target sites for next year's Fishing Village New Deal 300 Project, securing a total project cost of 24.5 billion KRW including national funds.
The 'Fishing Village New Deal 300 Project' is a community-based living SOC (social overhead capital) project that supports the innovative growth of fishing villages. It plays a role in modernizing essential infrastructure in fishing villages, such as outdated piers, and is an integrated development project for fishing villages and ports that reflects regional characteristics.
Meanwhile, Goheung-gun secured 10.5 billion KRW for 2 sites in 2019, 22.8 billion KRW for 3 sites in 2020, 5.1 billion KRW for 1 site in 2021, and 24.5 billion KRW for 3 sites in 2022, increasing the total number of target sites to 9.
An official from the county stated, "With the selection for this Fishing Village New Deal 300 Project, the restoration of port functions and the creation of a fishing village environment will improve residential conditions, activate fishing village tourism, and establish a foundation for fishing village regeneration. We plan to continue these efforts, expecting an increase in residents' income and revitalization of the fishing village economy."
