Korea Institute of Optical Technology Donates Sponsorship Funds to Support Socially Vulnerable Groups

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Korea Photonics Technology Institute (President Shin Yong-jin) announced on the 9th that it has donated 54 million won in sponsorship funds to support socially vulnerable groups.

This year, the sponsorship recipients include 19 organizations such as the Gwangju Child Welfare Association and the Gwangju Nam-gu Healthy Family and Multicultural Family Support Center.

Since 2006, the Korea Photonics Technology Institute has been conducting the "One Account of Love" campaign, where employees voluntarily participate by contributing from 1 to 10 accounts per person each month (5,000 won per account).

Through this fundraising activity, approximately 140 organizations including disability groups, child welfare facilities, and elderly nursing homes have been supported with about 250 million won (cumulative).

This year, as COVID-19 has prolonged, voluntary participation from employees has continued in order to help neighbors facing difficulties.

In August, together with the Advanced Industrial Complex Social Value Realization Community, employees of the Korea Photonics Technology Institute participated in group blood donations to help alleviate the blood supply shortage.

Recently, the institute donated 5 million won to the vulnerable household repair project for residents of old houses conducted by the Buk-gu Office of Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Moon In), supporting vulnerable household repairs, decorating study rooms for low-income children, and creating elder-friendly residential environments.

Shin Yong-jin, president of the Korea Photonics Technology Institute, said, “Amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic causing difficulties for the entire nation, we hope to help overcome the crisis by joining forces. We will become a research institute that fulfills social responsibility by communicating with our neighbors.”
