On the 8th, at the Seoul Itda Food Bank Center, more than 50 people including executives and employees of Daesang, as well as housewives and university student volunteers, packed food gift packages to be delivered to neighbors in need during the "Chungjungone Sharing 2021 Happiness" sharing event.
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Daesang announced on the 9th that it held the ‘Cheongjeongwon 2021 Happiness Shared and More Delicious’ sharing event at the Seoul Itda Food Bank Center located in Seongdong-gu, Seoul.
Started in 2007 and now in its 14th year, the ‘Cheongjeongwon Happiness Shared and More Delicious’ event is Daesang’s representative social contribution activity held every year at the end of the year to deliver warm hearts to marginalized and underprivileged neighbors. Daesang prepares sharing boxes containing various food products of the company in quantities corresponding to the year and delivers them to the underprivileged.
About 50 participants, including Daesang employees, housewives, and university student volunteers, joined the event to help pack sharing boxes for the underprivileged. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, only fully vaccinated participants were allowed, and pre-event COVID-19 rapid tests and temperature checks were conducted in compliance with quarantine guidelines.
The sharing boxes consisted of a total of 25 types of food products, ranging from essential condiments needed for cooking such as Cheongjeongwon soy sauce, red pepper paste, and soybean paste to ready-to-eat meals like chueotang (loach soup), gomtang (beef bone soup), and powdered curry. The 2 billion KRW worth of 2021 sharing boxes packed with the help of volunteers will be delivered to marginalized neighbors in welfare blind spots such as basic livelihood security recipients, lower-income groups, and single-parent families through the ‘Itda’ food banks and markets in 25 districts of Seoul.
A Daesang official said, “Amid the ongoing difficult days due to COVID-19, employees prepared this event to practice love for neighbors,” adding, “We hope that through this sharing, our neighbors around us can spend a warmer winter.”
Meanwhile, Daesang established its social contribution team in 2006 and has been practicing various social contribution programs including food donations to food banks, scholarship projects for low-income groups, emergency disaster relief, and employee volunteer activities. Recently, reflecting the non-face-to-face trend, Daesang built an online employee participation platform (ZERO Campaign) and is conducting programs that employees can participate in remotely, such as the GoGo Challenge to reduce disposable product use, water saving and resource recycling campaigns, plogging, and step donation.
