[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Samsung Display conducted its '2022 regular personnel appointments' for executives and masters on the 9th. Personnel who contributed to securing display technology competitiveness and expanding sales through expertise were promoted to executives and assigned to key departments.
Samsung Display announced that it promoted a total of 24 people, including 8 vice presidents, 14 general managers, and 2 masters on that day. It explained that it appointed individuals who strengthened market dominance in the display sector and contributed to securing future growth engines as vice presidents amid an uncertain business environment.
Vice President Kim Chang-sik, head of the IP team in the Management Support Office, who effectively defended against external patent infringement lawsuits such as patent trolls as an IP specialist lawyer; Vice President Park Ji-yong, head of the PA team in the Small and Medium Display Business Division, who led timely development of flagship OLED panels; and Vice President Lee Kwan-hee, head of the Process Development Team in the Small and Medium Display Business Division, an OLED organic material expert who led the development of long-life, high-efficiency light-emitting materials and new manufacturing methods for low-power, high-performance OLED panels, were promoted from general managers.
Also promoted were Vice President Lee Dong-won, head of the SDT Corporation in the Small and Medium Display Business Division, who maximized equipment efficiency at the Tianjin, China corporation; Vice President Cho Sung-chan, head of the Advanced Research Team and Product Research Team at the Display Research Institute, who focused on next-generation display development; Vice President Choi Soon-ho, head of the Marketing Team in the Small and Medium Display Business Division, who contributed to maximizing sales and profits in the small and medium business; and Vice President Choi Jae-beom, head of the Process Development Team in the Large Display Business Division, who secured the completeness of QD displays and ensured timely product launches.
Through this personnel appointment, Samsung Display selected Vice President Choi Yeol, head of the Module Development Team in the Small and Medium Display Business Division and a module process technology expert, via the Samsung-style fast track that enables early cultivation of young executives, producing its first high-ranking executive in their 40s. Along with this, the company maintained its policy of selecting outstanding female personnel for three consecutive years by appointing Son Seo-young, head of Sales Group A in the Small and Medium Display Business Division, as general manager.
Furthermore, Samsung Display decided to appoint individuals who strengthened its status as a leading display technology company as 'masters.' Accordingly, Master Ahn Sung-guk, head of the Foldable Development Team in the Small and Medium Display Business Division and a polymer material expert who led component development for foldable innovative products, and Master Lim Jun-hyung of the Process Research Team at the Display Research Institute, who contributed to enhancing panel competitiveness through next-generation oxide device development, were appointed.
Samsung Display will conclude its executive personnel appointments with this 2022 regular personnel announcement and plans to conduct organizational restructuring and position appointments soon.
