[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Actress Go Doo-shim will receive the Woman Filmmaker of the Year Award.
On the 9th, the ‘2021 Women Filmmakers Festival’ hosted by the Women Filmmakers Association announced the recipient of the ‘Woman Filmmaker of the Year Award.’
Celebrating its 22nd year, the ‘Woman Filmmaker of the Year Award Ceremony’ is the only domestic award ceremony spotlighting women filmmakers, honoring and encouraging outstanding women filmmakers each year.
The awards are divided into nine categories: the top award Woman Filmmaker of the Year, Acting Award, Producer Award, Director Award, Screenplay Award, New Actress Award, Technical Award, Documentary Award, and Promotion & Marketing Award.
The recipients were selected from films released between November 6 last year and the 5th of last month by the ‘Woman Filmmaker of the Year Award’ nomination committee of the 2021 Women Filmmakers Festival. Among them, the Acting Award and New Actress Award were chosen by compiling opinions from active members and the board of the Women Filmmakers Association.
The Woman Filmmaker of the Year Award went to actress Go Doo-shim for ‘Shining Moment.’ The Producer Award was given to Kim Min-kyung, CEO of Bandal production company for ‘Good Light, Good Air,’ the Director Award to director Lee Ran-hee for ‘Vacation,’ and the Screenplay Award was jointly awarded to director Kim Mi-jo of ‘Seagull’ and director Lee Woo-jung of ‘Best Life.’
The Acting Award went to actress Moon So-ri for ‘Three Sisters,’ the New Actress Award to actress Bang Min-ah for ‘Best Life,’ the Documentary Award to director Park Yoon-jin for ‘My Sister Jun Ji-hyun and Me,’ the Technical Award to costume director Kim Eun-young for ‘I Do Not Fire Myself,’ ‘Lucky Monster,’ ‘Adults Don’t Know,’ and ‘Feast Day,’ and the Promotion & Marketing Award to Phil & Plan for ‘Seagull,’ ‘Light and Iron,’ ‘Summer of Thoughts,’ and ‘We Every Day.’
The Woman Filmmaker of the Year Award Ceremony will be held as the second part of the ‘2021 Women Filmmakers Festival’ on the 16th at 7 p.m. at Cinecube Gwanghwamun, hosted by actress Moon So-ri. The first part will feature a session reviewing the activities of the Korean Film Gender Equality Center Ddun-dun, established to create a gender-equal environment in the film industry, focusing on support for victims of sexual violence in the film industry and prevention education through current status and analysis.
