Eodonseung, Chairman of Wanju Education Governance, Receives Seoul Peace Culture Award

Recognition for Contribution to Establishing Wanju Education Cooperation District

[Wanju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Lee Don-seung (62), chairman of the Wanju Education Governance Committee, has been selected as the recipient of the '2021 Seoul Peace Culture Award for Educational Service.'

The Seoul Peace Culture Award is organized by Seoul Daily and Capital Daily and hosted by the Seoul Peace Culture Award Organizing Committee. It annually honors experts from various fields in politics, economy, and education who have contributed to the development and peace of our society.

Chairman Lee Don-seung, selected as the recipient of the Educational Service Award, was recognized for his contributions to establishing Wanju as an education cooperation district ideal for raising children through creative education for local elementary, middle, and high school students and the implementation of specialized local education programs.

In particular, since 2017, he has served as chairman of the 'Public-Private Cooperation Committee for the Development of Wanju Education,' and through consultations with Wanju County and Wanju Office of Education, he played a leading role in making Wanju the first local government to fully implement free meals for all kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school students, a campaign promise of President Moon Jae-in, which received high praise.

Chairman Lee said, "Education must be upright, and schools must be happy for our children's future to be bright," adding, "With this Educational Service Award, I will devote all my passion and sincerity to creative education and local education for students in the Wanju area, striving to make Wanju County a leading education city and a healthy community."

Graduating from Jeonra High School and majoring in Trade at Jeonbuk National University, Chairman Lee has served as president of the Jeonbuk National University Student Council, chairman of the Insurance Supervisory Service labor union, administrative officer of President Kim Dae-jung’s transition committee, deputy chairman of the Millennium Democratic Party Labor Committee, chairman of the Unified Democratic Party Venture Business Special Committee, and planning committee member of the Democratic Party’s Strategic Planning Committee. He also served as senior advisor to the Democratic Party candidate Ahn Ho-young’s campaign headquarters in the 20th general election, general director of the Democratic Party candidate Moon Jae-in’s Wanju County campaign headquarters in the 19th presidential election, and senior vice president of the Wanju County Sports Council. Currently, he is serving as chairman of the Wanju Education Governance Committee.

Meanwhile, the Seoul Peace Culture Award ceremony will be held on the 10th at the KNK Digital Tower in Seoul.
