[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Eighteen organizations, including Jeollabuk-do, received awards for creating 'inclusive jobs.'

On the 7th, the Presidential Committee on Jobs held the '2021 Korea Job Merit Award Ceremony' at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jung-gu, Seoul, announcing the award news. Jeonbuk was recognized for creating approximately 8,570 direct and indirect jobs through the 'Jeonbuk Gunsan-type Job' project, recovering about 80% of the jobs lost due to the departure of large companies such as General Motors (GM).

Another awardee, SK Telecom, received an award for launching the innovative mobility service 'GoyohanM,' which has employed over 100 hearing-impaired individuals so far, creating jobs that allow vulnerable groups to work in the information and communication sector.

Five local governments including Busan, Daegu, Ansan, Andong, and Geoje, six public institutions such as Korea District Heating Corporation, Incheon Port Authority, National Information Society Agency, Korea Health Industry Development Institute, Korea Gas Corporation, and Korea Creative Content Agency, as well as five private companies including SK Magic, GS Retail, Samsung Biologics, Doosan Fuel Cell, and CJ ENM also received awards.

Kim Yong-gi, Vice Chairman of the Jobs Committee, said, "The awarded organizations and companies actively contributed to overcoming the regional economic crisis by providing jobs to vulnerable groups through public-private cooperation and customized win-win job projects despite the difficult environment caused by COVID-19." He added, "The government will also strive to improve both the quantity and quality of jobs by meticulously designing social and economic policies such as new industry research and development, financial support, and expansion of social safety nets amid the rapidly changing industrial ecosystem due to digital innovation and a low-carbon green economy."
