Samsung Heavy, Wins Order for 3 LNG Carriers Worth 733.9 Billion KRW

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Samsung Heavy Industries announced on the 7th that it has secured orders for three LNG carriers worth 733.9 billion KRW from shipping companies in the Bermuda and Oceania regions.

With this contract, the cumulative order amount for this year reached 11.8 billion USD. This figure exceeds the annual target of 9.1 billion USD by 30%. The contracted vessels are scheduled to be delivered sequentially by January 2025.

In particular, 70% (47 vessels, 8.2 billion USD) of the total order backlog consists of eco-friendly ships that can use LNG as fuel, steadily increasing the order backlog focused on high value-added vessels.

Samsung Heavy Industries emphasized, "Demand for LNG products to comply with IMO's greenhouse gas emission regulations is expected to continue," adding, "We will further strengthen our market dominance through our LNG technology gap strategy."
