The Top 'Seoul Vision 2030' Policy Expected by Foreigners: 'Development of Seoul Baekje Historic Site District'


[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Among the major projects of ‘Seoul Vision 2030,’ which outlines Seoul’s future vision for the next 10 years, the policy most anticipated by foreigners was the ‘Creation of the Seoul Baekje Historic Relics District.’


According to Seoul City on the 7th, following the most anticipated policy by foreigners, ‘Creation of the Seoul Baekje Historic Relics District,’ the next were ▲‘Opening of the Seoul Water Reuse Experience Center,’ a place combining children’s experiential play and rest areas ▲‘2022 SEOUL FESTA,’ Asia’s representative tourism festival ▲‘Asia Financial Hub Seoul,’ promoting the establishment of the Seoul Investment Agency ▲‘Building a Manual Safety City Seoul,’ systematically managing disasters using 4th industrial revolution technologies ▲‘Establishing the World Beauty Industry Hub’ in Dongdaemun, consolidating cosmetics companies, research institutes, and K-Beauty experience spaces.


Regarding the four future visions of ‘Seoul Vision 2030,’ foreigners showed the greatest interest in the fields of Global Leading City and Future Emotional City. The order of interest was Global Leading City (33.9%), Future Emotional City (31.0%), Coexistence City (19.6%), and Safe City (15.5%).


Seoul City disclosed the results of a vote on the ‘Seoul Vision 2030’ outstanding policies most anticipated by foreigners, conducted over 11 days targeting foreigners residing in Korea and abroad. The vote covered 30 major projects for the implementation of Seoul Vision 2030. A total of 6,227 people participated.


By language group, English speakers accounted for 80.1% of voters, showing the highest participation rate. Simplified Chinese (7.0%), Traditional Chinese (9.2%), and Japanese (3.7%) followed.


Yoon Jong-jang, Director of Citizen Communication Planning at Seoul City, said, “Through this outstanding policy vote, we could see the high interest foreigners have in ‘Seoul Vision 2030,’ Seoul’s future blueprint. Especially, we will continue to promote Seoul’s policy implementation process focusing on the future visions of Global Leading City and Future Emotional City, which attracted high foreign interest in this vote, to introduce the changing face of Seoul overseas and enhance Seoul’s attractive city image.”
